About Me

I am a Senior Strategist for TOKY Branding + Design, focusing on content strategy and development for a range of clients. I live with my wife Tamara in St. Louis.
If you poke around this website, you’ll see that I post most often about books, literature, technology, design, architecture, interiors, photography, visual art, affairs, and content strategy. I also post occasionally at the TOKY blog, and from time to time I Gimmie. Every year, I also tally up my “Annual Favorites” — the best (mainly cultural) stuff I encountered during the previous 12 months.
Before joining TOKY in July 2011, I spent about a year running my own micro-communications shop, The Schenkenberg Studio. And before that, I spent three and a half years as the Editor-in-Chief of St. Louis Magazine and Stlmag.com, helping oversee a redesign and relaunch of the publications, respectively. I have also edited books and catalogues for The Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts and the Wisconsin Historical Society Press; edited the book section for PLAYBACK:stl; written and edited for the Saint Louis Art Museum and other institutions; and contributed articles, reviews, essays, and interviews to The Believer, Identity Theory, St. Louis Magazine, The Capital Times, Pop Matters, The Quarterly Conversation, Popular Music & Society, and Washington University in St. Louis Magazine. As a small side project, I also edit Reading William Gass, a resource for readers of this celebrated American author.
